BELLE GLADE, Fla. — A 27-year-old Belle Glade man is facing a charge of attempted first-degree murder following a late-night shooting inside a neighborhood market, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded around 2:50 a.m. on May 16 to Bobby Market in Belle Glade after reports of a sh00ting involving a male victim. Investigators said the victim was initially taken to a local fire rescue station before being transported to Lakeside Medical Center and later airlifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center due to the severity of his injuries.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds and underwent emergency surgery. Authorities described his condition as critically stable.

Detectives said surveillance video from inside the store captured the confrontation leading up to the shooting. Investigators allege the suspect entered the business earlier to order a pizza before returning later to pick it up. While inside the store, an argument and physical confrontation reportedly broke out between the suspect and the victim near the cashier counter.

Witnesses told investigators the altercation escalated after a pizza box was knocked to the floor. According to the report, the suspect allegedly pulled a handgun from his pocket and fired multiple shots as the victim attempted to flee the store.

Crime scene investigators recovered several 9mm shell casings both inside and outside the market. Blood trails and damaged items were also documented throughout the scene.

Detectives later identified Joseph Oliver Lee-Tucker Jr. as the suspected through witness statements and surveillance footage. A witness reportedly identified him in a photo lineup and confirmed he was the individual seen in the store video during the shooting.

Investigators also stated Lee-Tucker was already on probation in Palm Beach County stemming from a prior robbery case and was prohibited from possessing firearms as part of his probation conditions.

Lee-Tucker was arrested and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on a charge of attempted first-degree murder.

The investigation remains ongoing.
