BOCA RATON, Fla. — A 19-year-old Boca Raton man has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of 17-year-old Dominic Aletto late last year, according to Boca Raton Police.
Investigators say Douglas Keith Brown Jr. was taken into custody on a felony charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving death following a lengthy investigation into the November 30, 2025 incident.
According to the probable cause affidavit, officers responded around 2:22 a.m. to reports of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash near Southwest 14th Street and Southwest 14th Avenue. Dominic Aletto suffered severe injuries and was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.
Police say the vehicle involved — described as a lifted blue Chevrolet pickup truck — fled the scene before officers arrived. Witnesses reportedly provided investigators with a description of the truck and identified the possible driver as “Doug Brown.”
Authorities later located a truck matching the description and detained Brown nearby. Investigators allege witness statements and physical evidence tied the truck to the fatal collision.
According to the affidavit, witnesses told detectives an earlier altercation involving several individuals had taken place before the crash. Investigators say Brown drove to the area where Aletto was located, and an argument and confrontation followed near the truck before the vehicle accelerated away.
One witness reportedly told detectives Aletto was struck and run over by the truck’s rear tire as the vehicle sped off. Another passenger allegedly stated he felt what seemed like a “speed bump” and warned Brown that someone had been hit, but the truck continued driving away.
Investigators also cited surveillance video from Florida Atlantic University showing the truck arriving at a campus parking area shortly after the incident, where occupants allegedly inspected damage to the vehicle before separating.
A search warrant executed on the truck reportedly led to the recovery of several items, and investigators stated testing revealed evidence consistent with blood on one of the vehicle’s rear tires.
The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner later determined Aletto died from multiple blunt force injuries.
Court records show Brown was formally charged with hit-and-run involving death, a first-degree felony under Florida law. The investigation remains ongoing. Mr. Brown is considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
