What investigators describe in newly released Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office affidavits appears to be a textbook example of how a series of bad decisions can quickly spiral into life-changing felony charges.
According to court records, Easton Meza, Victor Manuel Rivero III, Calvin Devon Waldon, and two minors were identified during an investigation into an armed residential burglary that allegedly ended with a victim being sh0t, run over by a vehicle, and hospitalized with serious injuries.
The investigation stems from an incident that occurred during the early morning hours of April 24, 2026, at a residence in western Palm Beach County.
According to investigators, the victim had been communicating with several people he knew prior to the incident and eventually invited some of them to his home. Detectives say a dark-colored SUV later arrived carrying multiple individuals. What happened next, according to the affidavits, turned into a terrible idea with serious consequences.
Court records state that while inside the residence, several individuals allegedly handled and photographed firearms belonging to the victim. A short time later, investigators allege multiple firearms were taken from the home without permission. Detectives say surveillance footage showed individuals running from the residence toward a waiting SUV before the vehicle sped away from the area.
According to the affidavits, the victim pursued the group and attempted to recover his property. Investigators allege a violent confrontation followed near the vehicle. The victim reported being punched and dragged while trying to retrieve the stolen firearms. During the struggle, witnesses reported hearing occupants of the SUV encouraging someone to shoot the victim. Detectives allege a firearm was then discharged, striking the victim in the leg. The victim further reported that after falling from the vehicle, he was run over as the SUV fled the scene.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he was treated for a gunshot wound and other serious injuries.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage, collected physical evidence, interviewed witnesses, and conducted identification procedures during the months-long investigation. According to the affidavits, detectives concluded there was probable cause to charge Easton Meza and Victor Manuel Rivero III with Attempted First Degree M*rder with a Firearm, Armed Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling, and Grand Theft.
The affidavits also identify Calvin Devon Waldon, Max Silverman, and Jake Silverman as alleged participants in the incident and as individuals identified by the victim during the investigation.
If the allegations are proven, what began as an ill-advised trip to someone else’s home could result in multiple defendants facing some of the most serious felony charges available under Florida law. Taking firearms from an occupied residence is already a serious offense. Allegations that a victim was shot and seriously injured while attempting to recover those firearms move the situation into an entirely different category.
The case will now proceed through the court system, where prosecutors will have the burden of proving the allegations beyond a reasonable doubt.
