HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A Broward County woman accused of sh00ting two men in the head during an argument in 2021 was sentenced to 35 years in Florida state prison after resolving the murder and attempted-murder case without a trial.
Tiffany Ann Miranda was arrested on May 12, 2021, following a sh00ting inside an apartment in Hollywood.
One man died from his injuries. The second man survived after initially being hospitalized in critical condition.
The sh00ting
According to Hollywood police allegations reported at the time, Miranda, her boyfriend and another couple had been together before an argument developed during the early morning hours of May 12.
Police alleged that when Miranda returned to the apartment, one of the men told her she would have to move out. Investigators said Miranda pushed the man against the front door, pulled a handgun from her waistband and sh0t him in the head.
Police alleged that Miranda then sh0t a second man in the head as he entered from the apartment’s balcony.
Miranda fled after the sh00ting, according to investigators. Both victims were transported to Memorial Regional Hospital, where one was pronounced dead and the other remained in critical condition.
Miranda turned herself in to Hollywood police at approximately 4:15 that morning.
Murder charges filed
Miranda was 32 when she was booked into the Broward County jail without bond.
A Broward County grand jury subsequently indicted her on first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder charges. Court records show that a separate first-degree-murder count was later closed when prosecutors filed a memorandum declining to proceed on that count in March 2023.
Miranda initially pleaded not guilty. The case remained pending for more than three years as attorneys conducted discovery, took depositions and litigated pretrial motions.
A judge denied Miranda’s request for bond following an Arthur hearing in February 2023. An Arthur hearing allows a Florida judge to determine whether the evidence and circumstances justify continuing to hold a defendant without bond in a case involving a potentially life-punishable offense.
Case resolved before trial
A jury trial was scheduled to begin in November 2024, but the case was resolved before jurors heard the evidence.
On November 1, 2024, Miranda entered no-contest pleas in the homicide and attempted-murder case. A no-contest plea does not expressly admit the allegations, but it permits the court to enter a judgment and impose a sentence without conducting a trial.
The docket’s amended disposition lists Miranda as adjudicated on second-degree murder with a firearm and attempted first-degree murder.
Judge Frank Ledee sentenced Miranda to a maximum term of 35 years in Florida state prison, with a 25-year minimum term reflected in the sentencing record. The sentences were ordered to run concurrently, meaning they are served at the same time rather than consecutively.
Miranda received credit for 1,270 days already spent in custody.
The court also recommended that the Florida Department of Corrections house Miranda as close to South Florida as possible.

Appeal filed
Miranda filed a notice of appeal on November 22, 2024. The appeal was assigned case number 4D24-3151 in Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal.
