LAUDERHILL, Fla. — Nearly four years after two men were kll during a barrage of gunfire outside a Lauderhill condominium complex, the murder case against Jahreme Shelton is scheduled to go before a Broward County jury.
Court records show Shelton’s jury trial is currently scheduled for November 9, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. before Circuit Judge Bernard I. Bober in Fort Lauderdale.
Shelton has pleaded not guilty. He remains incarcerated at the Broward Main Jail without bond.
Two men klled on Blueberry Court
The case stems from an October 19, 2022 sh00ting outside the Blueberry Hill Condominiums.
Lauderhill police responding shortly after 9 p.m. found two men suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Contemporary news reports said nearby surveillance equipment captured the sound of a prolonged barrage of gunfire.
Subsequent reporting identified the victims as Dwayne “Muscle Man” Francis and Jeff “FordLawd” Murray.
What investigators allege
According to Shelton’s arrest affidavit, surveillance footage showed a dark-colored sedan backing into the parking area before several men exited.
Investigators allege Shelton approached the men already gathered outside and greeted one of them. Seconds later, another person allegedly opened fire.
The affidavit claims Shelton was wounded during the gunfire, ran behind a nearby residence and then returned toward the vehicle. Police allege the surveillance footage showed Shelton firing at one of the wounded men as that person lay on the ground.
A short time later, a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck was dropped off at HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital in Tamarac. Investigators identified that man as Shelton.
Police also reported finding blood along the route taken by the person seen running behind the residence. According to the affidavit, laboratory testing linked blood collected from three locations at the scene to Shelton.
These claims represent allegations contained in the arrest affidavit and have not been proven at trial.
Charges reflected differently in current records
Shelton’s original arrest warrant accused him of two counts of first-degree murder with a firearm.
The current BSO jail roster describes two charges as “murder dangerous depraved without premeditation” and states that they were changed from first-degree murder. Separate capias entries connected to Broward case number 22011864CF10A continue to reference first-degree murder with a firearm.
Case repeatedly continued
The prosecution has moved slowly through the Broward court system since Shelton’s October 2022 arrest.
The docket reflects numerous status conferences, court-approved defense continuances, attorney changes and transfers between judicial divisions. The case was previously assigned to Circuit Judge Andrew Siegel before being transferred to Judge Bober.
On June 12, 2026, Shelton’s defense filed a written plea of not guilty and a notice of participation in discovery. A status conference was held July 1, and the court subsequently scheduled the November jury trial.
Unless another continuance or court-ordered reset occurs, jury selection and trial proceedings are expected to begin November 9.
