Lake Worth Man Faces Attempted Murder Charge After Alleged Domestic Violence Incident, PBSO Says

A Lake Worth man is facing multiple felony charges after Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office investigators alleged he intentionally struck his wife with a vehicle following a series of threats and a domestic dispute at their residence.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Celestino L. Tinoco, 54, was arrested on charges including Attempted First-Degree Murder, Criminal Attempt to Commit a First-Degree Felony, and Tampering with a Witness. The charges stem from an investigation into an incident that deputies say occurred at a residence on Lyons Road in Lake Worth.

Investigators reported that they responded to JFK South Hospital on July 6 after receiving information about a domestic violence incident involving a vehicle. According to the affidavit, the victim told deputies that tensions had escalated over an alleged affair and that multiple verbal threats had been made in the days leading up to the incident.

The victim alleged that during an argument outside the residence, Tinoco entered a vehicle and drove it toward her despite having ample room to maneuver elsewhere in the driveway. She told investigators the vehicle struck her, causing her to be thrown to the ground and into nearby trash cans before she hit the concrete. Deputies documented reported injuries and stated photographs were taken as part of the investigation.

According to the affidavit, the victim further alleged that after the collision she attempted to call 911, but her phone was taken from her before she could complete the call. Investigators stated this allegation formed the basis for the witness tampering charge.

The affidavit also describes statements allegedly made prior to the incident in which Tinoco threatened to kill his wife. Investigators reported that a relative later confirmed hearing one of the alleged threats.

After reviewing the victim’s statements, witness information, physical injuries, and other evidence gathered during the investigation, detectives concluded there was probable cause to charge Tinoco with attempted first-degree murder and witness tampering.

Tinoco was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on the listed felony charges. Court records will determine how the case proceeds through the judicial system.
