Around the same time, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported sh00ting in the 1400 block of Tangle Orchid Trace in the Arden community of Loxahatchee. Deputies found an adult woman dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators determined the suspect had traveled to downtown West Palm Beach and was inside The Ben Hotel on North Narcissus Avenue. Officers secured and contained the hotel as additional resources responded.
The standoff lasted several hours as officers attempted to negotiate with Wegrich.
