What happened: A man was found with 2 bags of Canna during a traffic stop on I-95 near Boynton Beach, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Background: FHP says Jeremiah D’Andre Baxter, 29, was taken into custody on Oct. 26 after a caller reported a black Dodge Ram swerving and traveling without headlights.
The caller also said that Baxter appeared to be drinking and holding a phone. The affidavit says that Baxter continued driving even after troopers activated lights and sirens, then finally stopped after a second patrol car moved in front of him.
Deputies also confirmed that Baxter’s 3-year-old was in a car seat. He told troopers he had not been drinking and told them that the reason he didn’t stop right away was because he was adjusting a neck pillow around his daughter.
As such, a DUI case was not pursued. Baxter was taken into custody and is facing four charges: failure to obey a police order, resisting an officer without violence, possession of under 20 grams of Canna, and possession of substance paraphernalia as well as a traffic citation.
