What happened: A Jupiter woman says a DoorDash driver assaulted her inside her apartment after she opened the door for an alcohol delivery.
Background: Now, she is suing the company, alleging failures in driver screening and safety procedures put her at risk. The woman, identified as Jane Doe in the complaint, ordered a bottle of vodka March 7.
She opened her door to present identification, and the driver entered her apartment and forced her to perform a S3xual act despite her refusal, the lawsuit alleges. Her attorney, Donevan Mallard of Miami-based Mallard & Sharp, said the driver pushed his way inside, checked her ID and asked for some of the alcohol.
The woman, who lived alone, felt pressured and believed allowing him a drink would get him to leave, Mallard said. βIt's changed her outlook on life, and you know how she feels about her safety every day, right?β he said.
In a statement to News, DoorDash declined to discuss the specific allegations. DoorDash takes these allegations seriously and has zero tolerance for violence of any kind on the platform.
