What happened: A man is accused of mistreating and abusing a small pet dog, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriffβs Office.
Background: PBSO says that Tyler Ronald Hill, 31, was taken into custody after he allegedly abused his dog, Ozzy, at his Lake Park apartment earlier this year. On May 1, 2026, a neighbor reported to police that he heard Ozzy yelping and saw Hill lifting the dog by its neck.
When confronted, the neighbor reported that Hill became verbally aggressive. A roommate also gave police a recorded statement, according to the affidavit.
They alleged that Hill repeatedly hit Ozzy, including slapping, kicking, punching, and even throwing the dog across a room into a wall. The roommate said that the abuse usually happens whenever Ozzy urinates or defecates inside of the home, and that it occurs on an almost daily basis.
PBSO says that Ozzy was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic on June 9 with rapid breathing, rib pain, and lameness in a hind leg. X-rays showed two acute rib fractures that were determined to be consistent with blunt-force trauma.
These injuries required medication and strict rest.
