PENSACOLA PAIR SERVING 30-YEAR SENTENCES AFTER VICTIM SURVIVED ESCAMBIA RIVER BRIDGE ATTACK

PENSACOLA, Fla. — Natalie Fonseca and Nafis Reynolds are each serving 30-year Florida prison sentences after entering pleas in a violent Escambia County case involving attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping, carjacking, robbery, arson and evidence tampering.

Circuit Judge Linda Nobles imposed the sentences on September 16, 2025. The case began as a social-media meeting and ended with the victim being thrown from the Escambia River Bridge after a robbery and attack.

THE ATTACK AND SURVIVAL
According to Florida’s First Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office, the victim met Fonseca through social media and went out with Fonseca and Reynolds on October 7, 2023.

Authorities said Fonseca was driving the victim’s vehicle when Reynolds began beating him and demanding money. The pair took the man’s money and telephone, cut his throat and threw him from the Escambia River Bridge. They then left in his vehicle and later set it on fire.

The victim survived. He reached shore and, on the morning of October 8, approached an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputy at a gas station near Scenic and Davis highways. He was described as injured, barefoot and covered in blood. An ambulance transported him to a hospital, and investigators began identifying the people responsible.

A SECOND ROBBERY
The State Attorney’s Office said another incident occurred approximately eight days later. Fonseca allegedly brought a second person to the residence, where Reynolds robbed that victim at gunpoint. Officials said Fonseca possessed property belonging to the second victim when she was arrested.

PLEAS AND SENTENCES
Fonseca and Reynolds ultimately entered pleas to charges that included attempted first-degree murder, kidnapping, carjacking, robbery, arson and tampering with evidence.

At sentencing, Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney Frederick V. Longmire argued that both defendants were equally responsible and posed a danger to the community. Judge Nobles sentenced each defendant to 30 years in the Florida Department of Corrections.

The investigation and arrests were handled by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. The prosecution was handled by the Office of State Attorney Ginger Bowden Madden for Florida’s First Judicial Circuit.
