HOLLYWOOD, FL — Two Broward County parents have been arrested on aggravated manslaughter and other charges connected to the disappearance and presumed death of their infant daughter, authorities announced.
Samantha Angeline Feliz, 20, and Alejandro Leon Jr., 21, both of Hollywood, were arrested Wednesday morning in Rockingham, North Carolina, by Richmond County sheriff’s investigators and members of the United States Marshals Service.
FAMILY MEMBERS RAISED CONCERNS
Hollywood police began investigating the case in early 2025 after relatives raised concerns about the baby and comments allegedly made by Feliz.
Authorities said Feliz gave birth sometime between December 6, 2024, and January 5, 2025. The birth was allegedly concealed, occurred outside a hospital and produced no official birth certificate or medical records.
Family members reportedly saw the couple with the baby during the child’s first month of life. Afterward, the baby was never seen again.
Investigators allege that Feliz and Leon denied the child belonged to them and claimed the situation had been a “prank.”
The missing child was later publicly identified as Baby Angelina. An FDLE Missing Child Alert listed her as last seen December 16, 2024, near the 3000 block of Sheridan Street in Hollywood. She was approximately one week old when she disappeared.
PARENTS FACE FIVE FLORIDA CHARGES
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, investigators developed evidence supporting the following Florida charges against both parents:
Aggravated manslaughter of a child
Tampering with or fabricating physical evidence
Failure to report a death to the medical examiner’s office
Providing false information concerning a missing child
Making false reports to law enforcement during an investigation
Authorities have not publicly explained exactly what happened to Baby Angelina or announced that her remains have been recovered.
ARRESTED AT RELATIVE’S NORTH CAROLINA PROPERTY
Investigators said Feliz and Leon fled to Richmond County, North Carolina, where they were staying on property belonging to one of Leon’s relatives.
They were arrested at a property and are now at Richmond County Jail on fugitive-from-justice warrants.
Both are being held without bond while awaiting extradition to Broward County.
The investigation remains active. Anyone who saw Baby Angelina, had contact with the couple or has information about the child’s disappearance is asked to contact law enforcement immediately.
