A Boca Raton area man is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say he opened fire during a late-night confrontation outside The Standard Restaurant in Boca Raton, leaving two people injured and prompting an extensive police investigation.

According to the Boca Raton Police Department, officers responded to The Standard Restaurant shortly after 1:30 a.m. on May 25, 2026, after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire. When officers arrived, they found two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds and immediately began rendering aid until rescue personnel arrived.

Police secured the area around The Standard Restaurant and launched a large-scale investigation. Detectives documented a shattered window near the restaurant’s entrance, a large amount of bl00d inside the establishment, and multiple spent 9mm shell casings recovered from the parking lot.

Investigators obtained surveillance footage from The Standard Restaurant and several nearby businesses. According to the arrest affidavit, the video showed a white sedan arriving at the shopping center shortly before midnight. Several individuals were later seen walking from the parking lot toward The Standard Restaurant.

Detectives say a verbal altercation developed outside the restaurant just before 12:35 a.m. During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired two rounds.

Authorities say surveillance footage captured the suspect fleeing from The Standard Restaurant immediately after the gunfire. Investigators noted that a pair of eyeglasses believed to belong to the suspect fell to the ground during the incident. Video allegedly showed the suspect briefly returning toward the scene, appearing to search for the missing glasses before running back to a waiting vehicle and leaving the area.

The investigation involved reviewing surveillance footage from multiple locations, conducting interviews, and obtaining additional evidence linking the suspect to the incident. Detectives also utilized employment records and witness identifications to confirm the suspect’s identity.

According to police, one of the injured individuals remained hospitalized in critical but stable condition following multiple surgeries, while the second injured person was later released from medical care.

Based on the evidence gathered, Boca Raton Police arrested Christian Joseph Ippolito, 24, and charged him with two counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder with a Firearm and one count of Sh00ting Into an Occupied Dwelling.

The investigation remains ongoing.
