WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Convicted killer Marcus Jamal Jerry, who is serving multiple life sentences in connection with a deadly Palm Beach County robbery and double murder, was returned to court Friday morning as part of ongoing appeal proceedings tied to his case.
Jerry was convicted in 2015 for his role in a violent robbery at a Delray Beach convenience store in 2012 that left two men dead. Prosecutors said Jerry acted as the getaway driver while two masked gunmen entered the business, opened fire, and robbed the store.
The victims were identified as Alfonso Hunter, 68, and Reginald Taylor, 52.
Following trial, a Palm Beach County jury found Jerry guilty on multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery. A judge later sentenced him to five life sentences.
Court records show Jerry later challenged his convictions and sentencing through the appeals process. Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal ultimately upheld the convictions and life sentences while noting limited sentencing issues that could be addressed separately through post-conviction motions. Authorities confirmed Jerry was transported back to Palm Beach County court Friday morning for additional proceedings connected to the long-running appeal and post-conviction case.
The case remains one of Palm Beach County’s most high-profile robbery-homicide prosecutions from the past decade.
